BYD UK is the British division of the Chinese multinational company BYD, a global leader in electric vehicles (EVs) and battery technology. It focuses on the distribution of electric buses and cars, playing a key role in the country's transition to sustainable transportation.
Automobile
With independent R&D, BYD has become the only enterprise in the world that has mastered the core technologies of new energy vehicles, such as batteries, motors, electronic controls, etc. At present, BYD’s new energy vehicles (NEV) have formed three major product lines for passenger cars, commercial vehicles, and forklifts, covering seven conventional transportation fields including passenger vehicle, taxi, bus, coach, urban logistics, sanitation, and construction; and four specialist off-road vehicles for specific uses including warehousing, harbors, airports, and mining.
BYD has shattered records by exceeding its ambitious 8 million NEV sales goal in July, 2024. More notably, BYD has become one of the world’s top 10 car sellers for the first time, while continuing to dominate the Chinese market as the best-selling car brand and manufacturer. Its new energy vehicle footprint can be found in more than 400 cities, across 96 countries and regions around the world. As of September 2024, our new energy passenger vehicles are available in 85 countries and regions.
Electronics
BYD is a top electronic manufacturing service (EMS) provider of one-stop services and solutions. BYD Electronic (International) Co., Ltd. was listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in 2007. After more than two decades of development, it covers four major fields, namely: smartphones and laptops, new smart products, auto intelligent systems, and new intelligent products. It is the only company to provide a full series of structural components (metal, glass, ceramics, plastics, etc.) along with complete product design and manufacturing.
New Energy
BYD is a pioneer in providing a zero-emission energy ecosystem from power acquisition to storage, and application. Since 2008, BYD’s solar power and energy storage products have been exported to 6 continents, more than 23 countries, and more than 90 cities.
Rail Transit
With 100% independent IP and a full mastery of the entire industrial chain, BYD provides overall rail transit solutions, from design, vehicle bodies and track beams, to communication systems and intelligent operation and maintenance. In 2024, Sao Paulo City witnesses the inauguration of the BYD SkyRail on Line 17, marking the first deployment of the SkyRail outside of China.
Stella Li: Executive Vice President of BYD Company Limited and CEO of BYD Americas
Stella Li is the Executive Vice President of BYD Company Limited and CEO of BYD Americas. Founded and headquartered in Shenzhen, China, BYD boasts a diverse business scope covering automobiles, rolling stock, new energy, and electronics. BYD is committed to building a green transportation system that utilizes electric vehicles to relieve air pollution and SkyShuttle and SkyRail to address traffic congestion - leveraging technological innovations for a better life.
Ms. Li joined BYD in 1996 and served as BYD’s Senior Vice President and the Executive Director and CEO of BYD Electronics. During that time, Ms. Li promoted the enterprise’s global business and international presence, including the establishment of BYD’s Hong Kong Office in 1997, BYD European headquarters in Rotterdam in 1999 and first North America headquarters in Chicago in 2000. She helped establish a partnership with both Motorola and Nokia, providing the latter with mobile phone batteries and a wide range of components and parts.
Ms. Li has cemented extensive partnerships for BYD across the globe and multiple industries and contributed to the company’s growth as it has become a dominant force and one of the world's leading brands. Her efforts helped transform the company from its beginnings as a battery manufacturer into the innovative and vibrant multinational powerhouse that BYD is today.
In the Americas, Ms. Li has guided a thriving expansion of BYD. In February 2010, she was appointed as President of BYD America, and relocated its headquarters to Los Angeles. She oversaw the successful openings of BYD’s electric buses, trucks, and energy module factories in Lancaster, California, in 2013. Under her guidance, BYD has expanded its presence to over 20 countries in the Americas and has offices in 11 countries including the United States, Canada, Brazil, Chile, and Columbia.
BYD products launched in American markets include a full range of EVs from pure electric buses and heavy duty trucks to forklifts and energy products. Under Ms. Li’s vibrant leadership, BYD's passenger vehicles are now entering Brazil, Colombia, and Costa Rica.
Ms. Li earned her B.A. in Statistics from Fudan University - one of the top universities in China.

Wolfgang Egger: Design Director BYD Auto
With an illustrious career spanning three decades, Wolfgang Egger has made significant contributions to the automotive industry as a head of automotive design for renowned automobile manufacturers. In 2017, he took on a pivotal role at BYD, the world's largest electric vehicle manufacturer, spearheading the company's design division's strategic growth on a global scale. Leveraging BYD's prominent position in the global electric vehicle market, Egger's efforts have been instrumental in accelerating the worldwide adoption of vehicle electrification and the widespread enthusiasm for advanced clean transportation technology.During his tenure at BYD, starting from 100 core members, Egger has now collaborated with a diverse team of over 1000 designers from more than 10 countries, including Italy, Spain, Switzerland, and Germany. Together, they engage in design activities across multiple locations worldwide, bolstering BYD's creative endeavors.
Over the years, Egger has introduced several groundbreaking design languages, such as the captivating 'Dragon Face' design for the Dynasty Series, the alluring 'Ocean Aesthetic' for the Ocean Series, and the captivating 'Time Gate' design concept for the high-end brand.
Egger’s automotive design career started at Alfa Romeo S.p.A in 1989 immediately after his graduation from the International College of Arts and Sciences in Milan, Italy. In 1998, Egger joined Seat S.A. as Chief Exterior Designer and then returned to Alfa Romeo as Chief Designer in 2001. During his second stay at Alfa Romeo, Egger led the 80-person design team and developed a series of vehicle models that earned worldwide acclaim, including the Alfa Romeo GT, Alfa Romeo 8C Competizone Concept, Alfa Romeo Diva Concept, Alfa Romeo 159, Alfa Romeo MiTo, and Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione Spider.
In 2007, Egger joined Audi AG in Ingolstadt, Germany as Chief Designer, overseeing the design efforts of Audi and its sub-brands. Five years later, Egger’s responsibility expanded to Audi Brand Group, a 220-person team responsible for Audi, Lamborghini and Seat. In 2015, after spending one year as the Chief Designer and management board member of Italdesign S.p.A, an Italy-based, creative design service arm of Audi, Egger was appointed as the Chief Advanced Designer of Volkswagen Group. During Egger’s tenure at Audi, he introduced new designs for the A4, A6, A8, R8, Q7 and TT, as well as the Audi Quattro concept and the E-Tron Spider concept.
Many of Egger’s designs have earned accolades from the global automotive industry. Through his visionary leadership and innovative design approaches, Wolfgang Egger continues to shape the future of electric vehicles, leaving an indelible mark on the industry and pushing boundaries in the realm of automotive design.

BYD launched the F3DM, the world’s first PHEV (plug-in hybrid electric vehicle). BYD entered the solar power and energy storage sector. |

BYD announces the end of production of full combustion engine vehicles to focus on the BEV and PHEV market, the first OEM in the world to make such a commitment. BYD released the Cell-To-Body battery integration technology. In November 2022, BYD Rolled off its 3 millionth new energy vehicle. In 2022, BYD sold over 1.86 million new energy passenger vehicles, up 208.6% YoY. |

BYD launched its High-end brand, YANGWANG. BYD introduced FANGCHENGBAO, its new professional personalized sub-brand. BYD rolled off its 5 millionth new energy vehicle (NEV), a DENZA N7, on August 9th. BYD ranked No.212 on the 2023 Fortune Global 500 list and has ascended 224 positions compared to last year, making it the fastest-growing Chinese company on the list. BYD rolled off its 6 millionth NEV in November 2023, accomplishing the transition from the '5 millionth' to the '6 millionth' new energy vehicle in just 3 months. BYD sold more than 3 million NEVs in 2023 and became the global new energy vehicle (NEV) sales champion, for the second year in a row BYD announced the construction of a brand-new manufacturing and production centre in Szeged, Hungary. |
2024 |
BYD unveiled the strategy of Integrated Vehicle Intelligence along with the launch of XUANJI Architecture, marking a transformative leap in merging electrification with intelligence. BYD announced its plan to construct the world's first professional all-terrain test-driving sites across several cities in China. BYD’s high-end sub-brand YANGWANG launched its first pure electric supercar model U9, powered by the e4 platform and the DiSus-X Intelligent Body Control System. In January, BYD became the Official Partner of UEFA European Football Championship 2024™ (UEFA EURO 2024™). This ground-breaking partnership with UEFA (Union of European Football Associations) marks the first-ever sponsorship deal with a new energy vehicle manufacturer in the Championship's history. In June, the BYD Uzbekistan Factory is formally commissioned. Vehicles produced in this facility will also be exported to countries in Central Asia. In July, BYD rolled off its 8 millionth new energy vehicle, the BYD DOLPHIN at its Thailand plant. In August, as a strategic partner of the Dragon Boats towards the Olympic Games, BYD was invited to participate in the Dragon Boat Racing which was featured as a demonstration sport at the Paris Olympics. In November, BYD rolled off its 10 millionth new energy vehicle. BYD sold more than 4.27 million NEVs in 2024 and became the global new energy vehicle (NEV) sales champion, for the third year in a row. |
