BYD Wins Prestigious ‘Rising Star’ title at Great British Fleet Awards

Thursday 18th April 2024  BYD, the world’s leading manufacturer of new energy vehicles, has won a prestigious accolade at the Fleet World Great British Fleet Awards 2024. Just a year after debuting its innovative electric car range in the UK, BYD has been presented with the Fleet Rising Star award in the ‘Manufacturer’ category during a formal gala dinner and awards ceremony on 17th April 2024. The esteemed black-tie occasion, which has become synonymous with bringing leading names in the fleet industry together, followed on from the Great British Fleet Event in Milton Keynes that same day.

An annual highlight, the 2024 Great British Fleet Awards recognises leading-edge developments in the fleet industry. The Rising Star award was presented in recognition of BYD’s achievements since debuting its electric car range in the UK in March 2023, bringing pioneering EV technologies and inspiring new products that meet the diverse needs of the British fleet management industry, company car drivers and major fleet operators.

BYD has, in the last 12 months, introduced three new all-electric car models to the UK market, including the BYD ATTO 3 (C-Segment SUV), the BYD DOLPHIN (C-Segment Hatchback) and the BYD SEAL (D-Segment Sedan). All utilise BYD’s cutting-edge technologies for safety and performance. This includes the highly acclaimed ultra-safe cobalt-free LFP Blade Battery, following 29 years at the forefront of pioneering battery development.

Significantly, BYD electric cars also offer a high specification of standard equipment, including a heat pump on all models, in a growing range that covers a spectrum of products, from those that are priced to make electric mobility more accessible, to premium executive solutions.

Dedicated to growing the brand in the UK, BYD has already established a comprehensive retailer network with key dealer partners in 22 locations across the UK. This will rise to 80 before the end of 2024, to provide the best coverage for sales and aftersales services to business and private customers throughout the UK.

John Challen, editor, Fleet World and EV Fleet World, said: “BYD made an impressive entry into the UK market with Atto 3, Dolphin and Seal last year and all the signs are that the company will build on that success through 2024 and beyond. For those drivers looking to make a move into an electric vehicle from a petrol or diesel car, BYD’s models should definitely be on the shortlist”

Worldwide, sales of BYD new energy vehicles in 2023 surpassed 3 million units, and in March 2024 the brand became the world’s first automotive manufacturer to roll off its 7 millionth new energy vehicle. BYD will also be opening a state-of-the-art electric car production facility in Hungary, dedicated to the European market.

Identifying a close synergy with world class performance and green goals, BYD will be generating significant brand awareness in Europe as the Official Partner of UEFA EURO 2024™. This spring and summer kicks-off a series of participative events and opportunities for BYD customers and football fans, with the chance to win once in a lifetime experiences.

Committed to sustainable technological innovation and electrification across all modes of transport, BYD also has a long heritage in other sectors including electric buses, trucks and vans, and even rail transit. BYD pure-electric buses were first introduced to the UK 10 years ago, and a decade on, are prevalent in many cities and towns in the UK and Ireland.

BYD looks forward to evolving its electric car business in the UK and collaborating with local partners to deliver world-class products and high levels of customer satisfaction.
