BYD Clinches Double Victory at Best COTY Awards
- BYD achieves double victory with the BYD SEAL range and the Best Company at the Best Car of The Year Awards
- The BYD SEAL and the imminently launched SEAL U DM-I take the crown for Best Car Line-Up
- BYD also beat all other motor manufacturers of the world to be crowned Best Company of the Year
- The BYD SEAL starts from £45,695 OTR and the SEAL U DM-I from £33,205 OTR
22 August 2024 BYD the world’s largest New Energy Vehicle (NEV) maker secured two major wins at the 2024 Best Cars of the Year Awards. The BYD SEAL and BYD SEAL U DM-i were honoured with the ‘Best Car Line-Up of the Year’ award, recognized for their design, sustainability and competitive price tags.
Additionally, BYD was named Best Company of the Year for its impressive plans to expand manufacturing across Europe.
The all-electric BYD SEAL, launched in November 2023 has already won a plethora of industry awards, and with the imminent arrival late this summer of The SEAL U DM-i, BYD’s first UK Plug-In Hybrid (PHEV) this win only further strengthens the impressive offering from BYD.
A hugely experienced panel of bestcarsoftheyear.com international judges helped secure victory for BYD, this included independent world-renowned car designers, engineers, auto industry titans, motorsport legends, journalists, broadcasters, media professionals, vehicle retailers, automotive consultants, motor club chiefs plus major motoring events organisers.
The BYD SEAL and BYD SEAL U DM-I greatly impressed several members of the international judging panel - including Shinichi Katsura and Peter Lyon, two highly experienced and influential Best Cars of the Year judges based in Japan.
“I voted for Seal this time around,” commented Best COTY’s Tokyo Bureau Chief, Peter Lyon.
“I particularly like the sedan version, not least because - at last - here’s a cool-looking EV saloon that stands out from the ho-hum crowd. It’s a car that does not break the bank”.
Commenting on BYD’s Best Car Company of the Year award, Mike Rutherford, founder of Best Cars of the Year and judging panel chairman commented: “BYD is just about the most daringly ambitious manufacturer on the planet right now. Apart from building a new car every few seconds, it’s establishing a network of plants in Europe and elsewhere to complement its existing Chinese factories. I’ve never known a company so willing and able to take on and beat the world. And its Seal saloon and Seal SUV - effectively a range within a range - provide further evidence that if this Chinese firm isn’t yet a legitimate member of the premium car club, it soon might be.”
