BYD named Corporate of the Year at the China-Scotland Business Awards

  • BYD wins prestigious Chinese Corporate of the Year award from the China-Britain Business Council
  • Funds were raised to support the Migrant Children’s Foundation at the event

BYD has been named Chinese Corporate of the Year in the China-Britain Business Council (CBBC) annual China-Scotland Business Awards.

The award, received by BYD at the CBBC’s Chinese Burns Supper, held in Edinburgh, is an award dedicated to the contribution that Chinese businesses make to the Scottish economy. The CBBC credited BYD’s “strong impact on promoting the sustainable growth of New Energy Vehicles in the Scottish market,” in addition to sales figures which exceeded 50,000 cars across the UK.

The China-Britain Business Council (CBBC) is the UK’s national business network promoting trade and investment with China. Since 1954 it has acted as the independent voice of business, located at the heart of the action, engaging across both countries in every sector and region. It supports members and partners by delivering the advice, analysis and access which they need to seize the China opportunity. The award was presented to Liam Howel, Deputy Head of Retailer Marketing for BYD UK.

Commenting on the award, Bono Ge, Country Manager for BYD UK, said:
“It’s a huge privilege for BYD to have been presented with this award. Receiving this recognition is further endorsement that BYD is pushing in the right direction; we are not only producing cars which appeal to buyers and buses that keep the public transport sector moving, but further forwarding the move towards sustainability via our energy storage solutions. Most of all, we are creating a business that supports local jobs both in Scotland and the rest of the UK.”

The annual Chinese Burns Supper is now in its 13th year and has become a key fixture in the China-Scotland business calendar. During the evening, funds were raised to support the Migrant Children’s Foundation, which enriches and develops the lives and education of disadvantaged children in China via a plethora of educational and health focused initiatives.
